Pinhole Surgical Technique
The pinhole surgical technique is a minimally invasive option to traditional gum surgery for gum recession. Because there are no blades or sutures necessary, this procedure provides instant results with no downtime and is usually done in the time it takes for a lunch break.
As an alternative to traditional grafting, Dr. Hartnett has been trained in the new Pinhole Surgical Technique (PST). PST is an incision-free, suture-free procedure for treating gum recession. Through a small pinhole made by a needle, Dr. Hartnett uses specially designed instruments to gently loosen the gum tissue and glide it over the receded part of the tooth. Since there is no incision or suturing, patients can expect minimal post-operative symptoms (pain, swelling and bleeding). Most patients also are pleasantly surprised by the instant cosmetic improvement.
